>She left this world through Kabala moksham in front of her guru like how a yogi leave this world

>

When Paul Brunton (a foreigner who came to India seeking a spiritual Master and author of the famous book, A Search in Secret India) sought an upadesa from Maha Periyava, Maha Periyava offered him the wonderful advice – ‘Be humble. You will find what you seek.’

Nama Yoga makes a ordinary person Yogi

During his yatra Bhagawan Nama Bodhendral once went to a village called Thirukokarnam for propagating the Divine Name. He was initiating everyone in that village with Rama nama. A daasi came there to him and asked if she could also chant Rama nama and if he would initiate her. Bodhendral initiated her with Rama nama without any hesitation. Those days sanyasi’s were not even allowed to speak to women and when he directly initiated a women that too a dassi, the villagers started speaking ill about him. After some days Bodhendral left the village. The daasi was chanting Rama nama religiously and would chant though out the day. Bodhendral happened to come back to that village after some time. By the time Bodhendral came back she had finished chanting crores of Rama nama. The dassi came to have a darshan of Bodhendral and after prostrating to him she left this world through Kabala moksham in front of her guru like how a yogi leave this world. The villagers were surprised seeing this and realised their mistake.

Bhagawan Nama cured plague in a city

Arcot was hit by plague once and there was no treatment for this then. The Nawab was also attacked by plague and it so happened that Bhagawan Nama Bodhendral was there in Arcot then. The people in the city went and told their problem to Bhagawan Nama Bodhendral, who then asked them to get together and chant Rama nama. Once they did as ordained by Bhagawan Nama Bodhendral everyone were cured and there was no trace of plague in the city. The Nawab then offered some land to His mutt and became His follower.

Why people did not take to Rama Nama, which is so easy and simple to chant. He puts forth his findings in the following words, "Since it is so easy and simple, none takes to it!" – Bhagawan Nama Bodendra Saraswati Swamigal

Nama Article 24th October 2008

Excerpts from a discourse by our Sri Sri Muralidhara Swamiji

What is the reason for using this technique of Chanting the Divine Name?

No dhyana or yoga will bear fruit as we possess no such power to perform these. We may, out of conceit boast of performing dhyana or yoga.

Bhagawan Nama Bodendra Saraswati Swamigal in Nama Siddhanta says that he conducted an enquiry into why people did not take to Rama Nama, which is so easy and simple to chant. He puts forth his findings in the following words, "Since it is so easy and simple, none takes to it!"

The reason for this is that everyone desires to do something 'grand' even though none possesses the aptitude. Everybody is aware of his shortcomings yet one desires to proudly declare that he is doing dhyana, yoga, etc. But the truth is all these people are only deceiving themselves.

In the present age these paths do not suit us. Well! What about the 'Nama' (Name of the Lord) that you advocate? Nama chanting will ultimately take you to the same goal that Vedanta vichhara or Yoga or 'Karmanushtana' takes one to. Through Nama one can attain the highest state. The Azhwars, the Nayanmars, Thiagaraja Swami, Panduranga Bhaktas, Chaitanya Mahaprabhu have all shown that one CAN attain liberation through mere chanting of Nama. Even today we find Sadhus who have attained the highest state through mere chanting of Nãma. This is the glory of 'Nama Sankirtana' — An absolutely easy, simple path.

Divine Names’ are not mere names

Nama Article 14th May 2007

Sri Bhagavan Nama Bodendra Saraswathi Swamigal says,

“The ever-blissful Supreme Lord, out of compassion for the welfare of the world, took up forms such as Sri Vishnu, Sri Siva, etc.

Feeling that these Forms alone will not suffice for redemption of the world He also became the Divine Names such as ‘Hari!’ ‘Siva!’ and is ever alive in these Names.

That is, the Divine Names’ are not mere names. Like the Deities they are also verily the Lord. Divine Name (‘Nama’) possesses all the powers of the Lord.”
