MASTER (to Rakhal's father and the devotees): "Ah, what a nice character Rakhal has developed! Look at his face and every now and then you will notice his lips moving. Inwardly he repeats the name of God, and so his lips move.”

Only due to merits earned in crores of births does Bhagavan Năma come on our tongue

Always keep His Name on your lips. Nama is nectar. This is the secret that will help you realize happiness in whatever you do.

Let the whole life be lived out as an offering to Him who has brought us into being. Let His Name be ever on our lips and in our minds

Remembering the Hare Rama Maha mantra always is Punya (Virtue), Forgetting Hare Rama Maha Mantra is sin.

God's name on one's lips is itself salvation, disregard (of the name) know to be perdition.

Padma purana says that the names of Hari are ever present on the lips of a man who has adored Him for successive births.

Sri Ramakrishna stressing on the importance of the point, wherever Nama Sankirtanam is done that place is purified

MASTER: "…….But I suggested the Panchavati because so much contemplation and meditation have been practised there and the name of God has been chanted there so often."

Therefore, wherever the chanting of Nãma is performed, wherever a japa is done, a wave is created. This is the reason that we say that it is peaceful, joyful in a place. What is so peaceful? The atmospheric wave here is very calm.

Wherever Nãma Sankirtanam is done that place is purified. The home where Nãma Sankirtanam is done will never be in want.

To collect people living around one's home and help them chant the Lord's Name is verily service to the Guru. Or to follow the special instruction given to him/her by the Guru is verily 'service' to the Guru.

‘Nobody sings the name of God there. It has no holy atmosphere.'

The service that God has entrusted upon your shoulders is to lend them to me!

If it is even possible for you to make one other person chant the Mahamantra, that is the greatest service you can do to Him

A good family is a family which chants Nama regularly

That is verily their ‘Kula Mantra’.

One cannot develop love of God or obtain His vision without work. Work means meditation, japa, and the like. The chanting of God’s name and glories is work too.

Discipline for God-vision

DEVOTEE: "Sir, we hear that you see God. If you do, please show Him to us."

SRI RAMAKRISHNA: "Everything depends on God's will. What can a man do? While chanting God's name, sometimes tears flow and at other times the eyes remain dry. While meditating on God, some days I feel a great deal of inner awakening, and some days I feel nothing.

"A man must work. Only then can he see God. One day, in an exalted mood, I had a vision of the Haldarpukur. I saw a villager drawing water after pushing aside the green scum. Now and then he took up the water in the palm of his hand and examined it. In that vision it was revealed to me that the water cannot be seen without pushing aside the green scum that covers it; that is to say, one cannot develop love of God or obtain His vision without work. Work means meditation, japa, and the like. The chanting of God's name and glories is work too. You may also include charity, sacrifice, and so on.

"If you want butter, you must let the milk turn to curd. It must be left in a quiet place. When the milk becomes curd, you must work hard to churn it. Only then can you get butter from the milk

I sit under the Kalpataru (wish fulfilling tree) of Sri Rama Whenever I desire any fruit I get it.

Nama Article 10th December 2011

Source: The Gospel of Sri Ramakrishna

During the conversation they talk of Hanuman, the great bhakta. There is a picture of Hanuman on the wall of Thakur’s room. Thakur says: See, the state of mind of Hanuman! He wants none of these: Wealth, honour, bodily comforts. He only longs for Bhagavan. When he was running away with Brahmastra (a heavenly weapon of the Brahma) taken from the crystalline pillar, Mandodari started showing him many kinds of fruits. She thought that tempted by fruits he might climb down and drop the weapon, but Hanuman could not be tricked. He said

Sri Rama, the Kalpataru (wish fulfilling tree)

Do I stand in need of fruits?

I have got the fruit that has made my life fruitful,

The tree of the fruit of liberation Rama is planted in my heart.

I sit under the Kalpataru (wish fulfilling tree) of Sri Rama

Whenever I desire any fruit I get it.

But you speak of the fruit; O woman, I am not bargaining for.

I go leaving the bitter fruit to you.

Thakur sings this very song. And again he goes into the same samadhi. Again his body is motionless, eyes fixed, and he sits still. He is seated the way as if a picture in the photograph. Only just now the bhaktas were laughing and making merry, now they are all gazing at this unique state of Thakur. It is for the second time that M. sees the state of samadhi. After some time a change comes in this state his body is relaxed and a smile plays on his face. The senses begin to function again in a normal way. Shedding tears of joy from the corners of his eyes, he utters the name, “Rama!  Rama!”

Those who want to advance spiritually must think of the Lord in the same way. They must think of the Lord and Lord alone

Sri Swami Purushottamananda Maharaj of Vasishta Guha

"The object of kirtan, bhajan, puja is to take the mind to the Lord. The mind is always going out. It is very difficult to control it.

So, these are the means to take the mind inside.

As the lovers think of their beloved while eating, drinking or playing and as the misers think of their wealth, those who want to advance spiritually must think of the Lord in the same way. They must think of the Lord and Lord alone. There should be no room for any other thought. Place a signboard 'No entry; the door is closed.'"

Sayings of Sri Ramakrishna

Put God first and only then, will all the rest, have value.

And here is some simple arithmetic that all of us will know. If I have "one," and go on adding zeros in front of it, like this: 0 + 0 + 0 + 001, does it become more than one? It does not.

But if I put the "one" first and the zeros after it: 1 + 0 + 0 + 0, the number goes on expanding to infinity.

In the same way, the universe is like the first "1"; there is something there, and you keep adding "things", but you don't get much; while God is like the second "1": put him first and only then will all the rest have value.

The name of God is more powerful than the senses. It will become all right in time if you practise regularly.

Reminiscences of Sri Sarada Devi

Be Regular in Your Spiritual Practice

One day I said to the Holy Mother that I could not concentrate well my mind during meditation. My mind was very fickle and unsteady. She smilingly replied, ‘Oh, nothing— that is the nature of the mind, just like that of the ears and eyes. Do it regularly. The name of God is more powerful than the senses. It will become all right in time if you practise regularly. Always think of the Master who is looking after you. Don’t be worried about your lapses.’

I said, ‘Mother, bless me that I may practise regularly.’

Mother, with a kind smile, told me, ‘Be sincere in your practise, words, and deeds. You will feel how blessed you are! His blessings are always on all creatures on the earth. It is needless to ask for it. Practise meditation sincerely and then you will understand His infinite grace. God wants sincerity, truthfulness, and love. Outward verbal effusions do not touch Him. Observe punctuality of time in your practice, take His name, and utter the mantra concentrating your mind with all your might. If you exert yourself sincerely and, banishing all other thoughts, pray to Him from the core of your heart, then your call will be responded to and your prayers granted through His grace.”
