How to develop such devotion? It is the fruit of Guru’s grace or God’s grace. To be the recipient of that grace we should shake off laziness and practise Nama repetition constantly.

(Pujya Sri Muralidhara Swamiji of Madhurapuri Ashram, Malaipattu, Chennai, made a surprise visit to Ashram on 24th September and blessed the devotees with a few hours’ stay. The following is a summary of Pujya Swamiji’s talk in the Bhajan Hall.)

Excerpts from “GLORY OF THE NAME”

The Name of the Lord should be repeated with all devotion. How to develop such devotion? It is the fruit of Guru’s grace or God’s grace. To be the recipient of that grace we should shake off laziness and practise Nama repetition constantly. Our part is to repeat the Name ceaselessly i.e. Shraddha and with firm faith i.e.patience. The repetition of Name should not be like a duty imposed on us. The aim of Satsang is to remind us of our invaluable human birth and the opportunity to take the Name.

In order to bring about Sannidhyam in the temple, organize Akhanda Maha Mantra Kirtan for 7 days in the temple precincts

Nama Article 9th November 2013

Source: http://www.namadwaar.org/answers/questions.html

There is a Perumal temple in my native village that is locked up most of the time and the ‘Archaka’ would not hand over the keys or responsibilities to anyone. I requested them to take measures to have it renovated, however no one is willing to take responsibility. Every other small temple by the roadside becomes famous in no time, but this ancient temple is in a sad state. When will this be renovated? It is my ambition to have it renovated.

Sri Sri Muralidhara Swamiji

One can become rich by honest earnings or through unlawful means. However the second path is not permanent.

In the same way, a temple becomes famous by its ‘sannidhyam’ (presence of divinity of the Lord). It could become popular through publicity etc., but that is not permanent.

In order to bring about Sannidhyam in the temple, organize Akhanda Maha Mantra Kirtan for 7 days in the temple precincts with not less than 3 bhaktas chanting at any point in time.

When this is performed. The Lord will show a way out and a solution towards renovation will definitely be born.

In view of Sri Swamiji's 52nd Thirunakshatra and Gopashtami, by the divine grace of Thakurji, an Akhanda Mahamantra Kirtana Saptaham is being held from 4th – 10th Nov, 2013 at the Bhagavata Bhavanam hall of the Madhurapuri Ashram

Nama Sapthaham – Why is it 7 days and not 6 or 5 or 8 days? What is the validation for this? – Narada advises the rule of that Mantra Shastra – “Chant for 7 days.”

What is the difference between a mother and a Guru?

Sri Sri Muralidhara Swamiji

Although mother’s love is supreme, it is only human. Guru’s love is divine.

The Magic of the Guru's Love

You may be the worst sinner, highly undisciplined; you may have committed all kinds of atrocities; yet, if a mahatma declares, “Oh, he is my child”, that will suffice for you

Guru’s boundless grace is immeasurable, limitless and infinite.

If we surrender ourselves absolutely without any reservation to the Guru, He will save us from all sorrow and show us the way to salvation

When a disciple leads his life with the clear understanding that it is the Guru who is running his life – adverse or otherwise, completely emptying the mind of personal likes and dislikes, seeing everything as Guru's leela, attains realization

The best offering that a disciple can give to the Guru is realizing that nothing else can equal his grace.

When can one earn Guru krupa? When God decides to bless a person, he receives Guru's grace. One has to be blessed with Bhakti; and that is blessed only by God/Guru.

To collect people living around one's home and help them chant the Lord's Name is verily service to the Guru. Or to follow the special instruction given to him/her by the Guru is verily 'service' to the Guru.

Sri Sri Muralidhara Swamiji

" If you get a proper Guru (‘Uttama Guru’), then Guru Bhakti is the easiest way

Here are a few of numerous reasons why such a Guru Bhakti is supreme:

  1. You can see your Guru as you see anyone else.
  2. You can talk to your Guru as you talk to anyone else
  3. The Guru is easily approachable
  4. The Guru can get his ideas clearly across to you
  5. The Guru will battle with you to make you good
  6. God Himself says that its verily God who comes in the form of the Guru to liberate masses.
  7. The Guru never expects anything else from you but for your love
  8. You can visit his place and enjoy bliss and peace
  9. The Guru can visit your place too.
  10. The Guru will never destroy or curse anybody (even God could kill a Kamsa or a Ravana, but the Guru’s compassion is boundless)
  11. Instead of cursing bad people, the Guru will transform them to godliness
  12. The Guru will remove your obstacles in the divine path — both internal and external.
  13. The Guru is the only person in the world who can do something good to you without any reason
  14. The very sight of your Guru will help you develop your faith in God.
  15. Scriptures say that your Soul, God and the Guru are one and the same.

Thus, with the destruction of ‘ajnana’ we have taken a new birth today: therefore, like the radiance of light we should attain ‘atma prakash’ (the radiance of the Atman). This is the philosophy behind Deepavali.

Nama Article 1st November 2013

Happy Deepavali

Source: http://www.namadwaar.org/articles/deepavali_09_part2.html

Krishna is the only male in the world. All the others are ‘stree’ (woman). All creatures are verily ‘stree’. The term ‘stree’ means ‘the ignorant’ (‘ajnani’). One who nurtures desires, attachments is verily ‘stree’. Except the Jnani all are ‘stree’. Krishna is verily the one male in who all should take refuge.

Number 16 represents the sum total of a society. God has 16 ‘kalas’. There are variations in the Avatar of the Lord. Some Avatars of God reveal only one kala while some other Avatars of God reveal two or three kalas. But the Avatar in which God comes down in all the 16 kalas is known as ‘poorna avatar’ (complete Avatar). One or two kalas refer to kala avatar or amsa (part) avatar. Krishna Avatar is a poorna avatar with all the 16 kalas.

At first, I was the only Bhakta of Premika Varadan. Slowly some more became His Bhaktas. The number increased gradually. The term ‘16000 Bhaktas’ means Bhaktas all over the world. ’16’ denotes whole (‘sampoornam’). There can be nothing beyond that. God embraces all and protects them. What does marriage with 16000 maidens mean? It means that Krishna takes all unto His Holy Feet. In whose control were all these 16000 maidens earlier? All the jivas were under the control of Narakasura. Where was Narakasura born? He was born on earth to Bhooma devi. All these 16000 maidens were in the clutches of ‘ajnana’. Who is ‘ajnana’? Narakasura was the very embodiment of ‘ajnana’. Where did ‘ajnana’ take birth? ‘Ajnana’ is the special trait of people of the earth. Narakasura who was born to ‘ajnana’, took hold of the 16000 jivas and blocked their union with God. At this stage Krishna destroys Narakasura and takes all the jivas unto His Holy Feet. So, on this day we take a dip to do away with ‘ajnana’ (and not with mere bodily dirt). Thus, with the destruction of ‘ajnana’ we have taken a new birth today: therefore, like the radiance of light we should attain ‘atma prakash’ (the radiance of the Atman). This is the philosophy behind Deepavali. Narakasura means ‘ajnana’ (ignorance). This (ignorance) is the special characteristic of ‘bhoo mandala’ (earth). Narakasura, the ‘ajnana’ was born to Bhooma devi. 16000 maidens represent the people (society). The demon has the people in his control blocking their union with God. Destruction of Narakasura and marrying the maidens represents the annihilation of our ignorance by Krishna and taking us unto His fold, eternally. This is the philosophy behind the destruction of Narakasura. Destruction of Narakasura appears in Srimad Bhagavatam.

On the auspicious day of Deepavali when taking oil bath in warm water, during the early morning hours is considered as equivalent of dipping in the sacred waters of River Ganga

Special Deepavali message of His Holiness Sri Sri Muralidhara Swamiji

Mahans sing that every single day is verily Deepavali for those who have taken refuge in Krishna

It should be effectively propagated that the evils effects of Kali can be easily negated by Chanting of Mahamantra.

This is because power is inherent in words. Whatever we keep thinking or uttering would one day turn out to be true in our life.

Likewise, it is enough, if we know that someone called God exists and the only way to reach him is Chanting His Name.

Nama Article 31st October 2013

Sri Sri Krishna Premi Swamigal

It is enough that you know the destination and the right path to reach it. The other details about the place can be verified in person. Likewise, it is enough, if we know that someone called God exists and the only way to reach him is Chanting His Name. The rest can be known and experienced in person.

The absolute pure consciousness is God. He is within you and He is all-pervading; omnipresent. There are no two things in this world. He alone exists and no body else.

"My Father alone exists, nothing else; nobody else"

Thus gradually developing the conviction that God alone exists and the ego does not count

One has to believe that the Lord exists. But it should not stop there. One should have total faith in Him and invoke His divine grace by chanting the Maha Mantra.

Having compassion of the Lord as the foundation, the one which has no rules, the one which can eradicate the force of Kali, Namakirtanam is the only resort. I think again and again about this with in Myself

Yogi then said to him, "Advaita and Visishtadwaita are for my Masters like Ramana Maharishi and Papa Ramadas. For you and for this beggar Rama Năm is enough. Get out!"

Opinion of Krishna on essence of Gita

In Srimad Bhagavatham it is fully stressed that only Namakirtan is enough.

This beggar has no other message to give. Let them remember the name of Rama, Krishna and Shiva

As per Lord Krishna, the mind can be completely subdued only by repeated practice of remembering God’s name

Nama Article 29th October 2013

Source: SADHANAS IN BHAGAVAD GITA by Swami Shantananda Puri Maharaj

CHAPTER VI : MEDITATE AND REALISE

According to certain commentators, the entire Gita is an exposition of the great aphorism (TAT TWAM ASI) "You are that'. This chapter is the transition from the yoga of purification of the aspirant (TWAM) to the Yoga of illumination or revelation of that (TAT).

The question arises as to how to control the mind (which is the main base for Sadhana). As per Lord Krishna, the mind can be completely subdued only by repeated practice of remembering God's name (bringing the mind again and again to the Lord as many times as it goes astray) and through detachment i.e., abandoning all desires for enjoyment of worldly objects

Please check these: Excerpts from a discourse by our Sri Sri Muralidhara Swamiji

Rama Rahasya Upanishad says, "The first letter 'ra' stands for the term 'tat' (That), and 'ma' stands for the term 'tvam' (You). Together "Rama" means the mahavakya "tatvamasi"

The aim of spiritual education is liberation or Jivan Mukti.

By chanting the Name of Bhagavãn one attains Atma Jnana, Jivan Mukti state

Those who are Jivan Muktas today began only in this manner. (Every journey starts with a single step.)

The one whose lips are incessantly chanting the Lord's Name is verily the Jivan Mukta (liberated soul).

How true are the words of a Mahan that the one on whose tongue God's Divine Name resides is verily the one who has been freed from bondage –a Jivan Mukta!

A self realized Jivan Mukta appears once in a generation.  If you are lucky, you will get the company of such a person.
